I am Mrs. G, a kindergarten teacher who never thought she would ever teach Elementary school. Although I love teaching, I never thought I was the kind of person who would teach young kids. I don’t own dangly apple earrings, I don’t wear sweater vests, and I don’t have any inspirational quote plaques on my desk.
Some of these stories are completely true, and most of them are not. I have renamed adults using names of alcoholic drinks (G is for Gin, in case you were wondering), and children bear names of kid appropriate drinks. Why? Because it’s fun. Also, because when I’m in the classroom with my wonderful little students, sometimes I feel as out of place as a Gin and Tonic at a Chuckee Cheese. And sometimes I just have to forget about being serious and jump in the ball pit.
After a few years in teaching, I now realize it is the most tiring, rewarding, hilarious, and ridiculous job I could have. I do it for the children, of course, but I really teach because and I can’t see myself doing anything else.
This blog is best enjoyed chilled and with a salted rim.
